Pale Male: Citizen Hawk of New York City "They were true-blue New Yorkers--tough, resourceful and determined to make it in the city." Central Park is an oasis in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world. It is filled with flowers and lakes, trees and meadows, and is populated with butterflies, frogs, songbirds, squirrels, and even an occasional coyote and fox. But, what WAS lunch for a red-tailed hawk? The hawk met a beautiful female red-tailed hawk. Together they entertained birdwatchers with an aerial ballet. Then, when they tried to build their first nest, their problems began. What a beautifully-told story of beauty, perseverance, and respect for nature! Research
