Each page begins with the description of a different flower, briefly describing some of its changes. Unfold the page and the fruit is revealed. Featured are how peas, raspberries, corn, peaches, peanuts, and pumpkins grow, "where once a flower bloomed". Included at the end are a index and directions for growing each of the featured vegetables and fruits.
